Strike Tracker is operated from the Netherlands. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws, the data controller is:

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Usage Data: How you interact with the App, features used, pages visited, and performance data
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, and app version
• Location Data: General location (country level) for country-specific strike information — only if you choose to share it
• Push Notification Tokens: Device tokens for delivering strike notifications, collected only when you opt in to notifications

We do not collect names, email addresses, passwords, or other personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., via the contact form).

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your data based on the following legal grounds:

• Consent: For push notifications and optional location sharing. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings.
• Legitimate Interest: For usage analytics and performance monitoring, to improve the App and ensure its security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Contract Performance: To provide the App's core functionality as described in our Terms of Use.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and improve the App's functionality
• Send you relevant strike notifications and updates (when opted in)
• Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
• Ensure the App's security and prevent misuse
• Generate aggregated, anonymized statistics (which may be published in blog posts and reports)

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. We may share data only:

• When required by law, regulation, or legal process
• To protect our rights, safety, or the safety of our users
• With your explicit consent

6. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following categories of third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Analytics: Privacy-friendly, cookieless server-side analytics for website usage statistics (no personal data is collected or sent to third parties; IP addresses are anonymized before processing)
• Push Notifications: Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) for iOS, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android
• AI Processing: OpenAI API for AI-powered data collection and content generation (see our AI Transparency & Disclosure)
• Hosting & Infrastructure: Web hosting services for data storage and delivery

Data sent to third-party services is limited to what is necessary for the service to function. We do not share personal user data with our AI providers — AI processing is used for public strike data, not user data.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

• Usage/analytics data: Up to 90 days, then automatically deleted
• Push notification tokens: Retained while you have notifications enabled; deleted when you uninstall the App or revoke notification permissions
• Contact form submissions: Retained for up to 12 months after your inquiry is resolved

8. International Data Transfers

Strike Tracker operates from the Netherlands and serves users in multiple countries. Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions recognized by the European Commission.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information:

• Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Regular security assessments and updates
• Limited access to personal information on a need-to-know basis

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data and request a copy
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict processing of your data
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (Dutch Data Protection Authority)

11. Cookies and Tracking (Website)

Our website (striketracker.app) does not use analytics cookies or any third-party tracking scripts. We use a privacy-friendly, server-side analytics system that:

• Does not set any cookies
• Does not use JavaScript-based tracking
• Anonymizes IP addresses before any processing (last octet is removed)
• Does not track individual users across sessions
• Does not share any data with third parties

The only cookies used on this website are essential session cookies for administrator authentication, which are not used for tracking visitors.

12. Mobile App Specifics

The iOS and Android apps do not use browser cookies. Data collection in the mobile apps is limited to the categories described in Section 2 above. Push notification permissions are managed through your device's system settings.

13. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
