ABVV announces strike to shut down TotalEnergies Antwerp refinery on 18 May 2026
Last Updated:
After negotiations collapsed, the socialist union ABVV announced that workers will bring TotalEnergies’ refinery in the Port of Antwerp to a standstill on 18 May 2026. Because a refinery requires a 10‑day lead time to shut down safely, the union set 18 May as the earliest effective date while demanding profit‑sharing bonuses.
This alert was originally created on 8 May 2026.
