Metro Vancouver: Coast Mountain Bus Company job action from 2 September 2026

Transit operators at Coast Mountain Bus Company, which runs buses, SeaBus and community shuttles across Metro Vancouver for TransLink, stepped up their job action on 2 September 2026. Members of Unifor Locals 111 and 2200 are now taking the recovery breaks at route termini that their contract provides for, instead of skipping them to keep buses on time. This follows a uniform ban that began on 17 August, after members twice rejected the company's offers; the dispute centres on running times and recovery time, which the union says are too tight to be safe.

Buses, SeaBus and shuttles continue to run. The union says delays will be limited to specific routes and announced in advance, and TransLink expects only limited service impacts, communicated through Transit Alerts. Riders should allow a few extra minutes on affected routes and check alerts before travelling. The action is open-ended; no bargaining dates have been announced.
