Italy: nationwide ENAV air traffic control strike on 30 September 2026 (13:00–17:00)

Uiltrasporti has called a four-hour national strike at ENAV, Italy's air navigation service provider, on Wednesday 30 September 2026 from 13:00 to 17:00. Because ENAV provides air traffic control across the country, the action can affect flights at every Italian airport, not just one hub.

One action, several proclamations

The stoppage was filed as separate notices — for ENAV itself, for its subsidiary Techno Sky, which maintains the hardware and software behind Italy's flight assistance systems, and for individual ENAV units in Bari, Bologna and at the Rome headquarters. All of them cover the same four-hour window and were called by the same union: this is one coordinated stoppage, not a series of separate strikes.

Italian media have flagged 30 September as the month's most difficult day for air travel.

What travellers should expect

Expect delays and some cancellations on flights departing from, arriving at or overflying Italy during the afternoon window, with knock-on effects either side of it. Italian law protects a minimum level of service: ENAC publishes a list of guaranteed flights before each strike, and airlines contact affected passengers directly.
