Castilla-La Mancha: doctors call intermittent indefinite strike (Feb 19–20 and in June)
Last Updated:
The regional medical union CESM Castilla-La Mancha called an intermittent, open-ended strike across the SESCAM health service, demanding the restoration of the professional career ladder and better staffing. Stoppages ran on 19–20 February and again on 15, 17 and 19 June 2026.
The action produced a result: SESCAM and the strike committee agreed to reactivate the Carrera Profesional in meetings on 10 March and 7 April. CESM Castilla-La Mancha ratified the agreement on 16 April and the health service's sectoral board approved it on 20 April. The union has said doctors will strike again in the autumn if the remaining demands are not met.
This regional action was separate from, and additional to, the national doctors' strike.
This alert was originally created on 19 February 2026.
