Malagón (Ciudad Real): Correos delivery staff on indefinite strike, 20 April to 31 May 2026

Delivery staff at the Correos distribution unit in Malagón (Ciudad Real) began an indefinite strike on 20 April 2026, called by the Sindicato Libre de Correos y Telecomunicaciones. The action also covered the surrounding towns served by the unit, including Fernán Caballero and Los Cortijos.

Workers were protesting long-standing understaffing: posts left unfilled, sick leave and holidays not covered, rising workloads and repeated reorganisations, which they say have steadily degraded the postal service in the area.

Participation held at around 80 per cent in the town and 100 per cent in rural rounds, and the strike ran for close to six weeks, leaving thousands of items undelivered. Workers returned to their posts at the end of May, describing it as an act of responsibility towards residents, after meetings in which Correos undertook to examine their demands.

The strike notice was not withdrawn. In early June the union confirmed it remained formally in place pending "tangible progress", and workers set a deadline of July 2026 for the company to act, with the option of resuming the indefinite strike if it does not.
