Philadelphia: Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown hotel strike, 21–29 June 2026
Last Updated:
Workers at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, represented by UNITE HERE Local 274, walked off the job in Center City Philadelphia on 21 June 2026 in a dispute over wages and benefits, timed to coincide with FIFA World Cup crowds in the city. The nine-day strike ended on 29 June 2026 when the union reached a tentative agreement raising non-tipped wages to $30/hour by 2028 — in line with Philadelphia's citywide hotel standard — along with improved pension, an 18% banquet gratuity, a reduced 15-room daily quota for room attendants, and expanded dependent healthcare. Members ratified the deal on 29 June and returned to work on 30 June 2026.
